There is overwhelming evidence that many of the wild and beautiful places on this earth are vanishing. Even the places that have been set aside as protected islands - such as our national parks and forests, wildlife refuges and state parks - are being overwhelmed. Too much commercial and residential development, increased recreational use and lack of funding for maintenance and upkeep. Millions of people worldwide share a common concern about the implications of this habitat loss. Along with environmental activists, other landscape and wildlife photographers, and millions of those in the general populace, I hope my images help to raise awareness of the spectacular natural beauty around us and encourage preservation, conservation and responsible usage.  The viewer who wants to know more about these critical issues can find information at the web sites listed on the Links page of this site under the heading: 'Causes I Care About'

For those who may want to know more about me or about the camera gear that was used to capture these images, here goes.  I am a retired school administrator who lives in the Chicago area but loves the rocky mountain west and tries to get out there to shoot as often as possible.   My gear is primarily Nikon, shooting the D300 and D2x with Nikon zoom lenses and a Nikon 500 f 4. AFS.  I could go on to list all of the other peripheral stuff but most people won't care so I won't.
